About Scouts BSA (formerly “Boy Scouts”)
The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) is one of the nation's largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness.
For over a century, the BSA has helped build the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun. The Boy Scouts of America believes — and, through over a century of experience, knows — that helping youth is a key to building a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society.
We are extremely proud and excited that girls as well as boys can now benefit from the Scouts BSA program.
About Troop 1
As of February 1, 2019 Scouts BSA Girl Troop 1 was officially chartered. We are a girl only troop welcoming adventurous girls from ages 11-18. We serve the Bridgewater community and surrounding areas. We started with 5 scouts and have grown to 30 amazing young women commuting from 10 different cities to join us.
We meet on Thursday nights from 7:00-8:30 at Pluckemin Presbyterian Church. We are an active Troop and typically have at least one trip or event per month.
Some of our favorite events and trips have been
- an Orienteering competition, Klondike Derby, and the First Aid Meet (yes, we’re slightly competitive)
- rock scrambling in the Shawangunks,
- a super challenging high ropes course,
- rock wall and natural rock face climbing,
- an excursion to Gettysburg,
- camping in Hershey PA,
- and of course Summer Camp!
